Privacy Policy

1. Overview

sistnt (“we,” “our,” or “us”) develops privacy-first iOS applications for intentional living. This Privacy Policy applies to all apps published by sistnt, currently including Enumerator, 4KWks, Capture, Orate, and Steward (collectively, “our Apps”).

Our Apps are built on three core privacy commitments:

  • Local-first: Your data is stored on your device and, where applicable, in your private iCloud account. We do not operate servers that store your personal data.
  • Private by default: We do not collect personally identifiable information. We do not require account creation, email addresses, or sign-in credentials.
  • Transparent: This policy clearly discloses all data practices. If we collect nothing, we say so.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

To be explicit, sistnt does not collect, transmit, store, sell, rent, or share:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
  • Device identifiers (UDID, IDFA, or similar)
  • IP addresses
  • Location data (except as described in Section 4 for Enumerator, stored only on your device)
  • Financial account numbers, credit card numbers, or banking credentials
  • Usage patterns tied to your identity
  • Any data that could be used to identify you personally

3. Data Stored on Your Device

All content you create within our Apps is stored locally on your device and, where applicable, synced to your private iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit framework. This data belongs to you. We cannot access, read, or retrieve it.

3.1 Enumerator

  • Counters you create (names, colors, reset intervals)
  • Logged instances (timestamps and optional location data)
  • Exported files (JSON or CSV format, created at your direction)

3.2 4KWks

  • Your birth date (used to calculate life visualization; stored only on your device)
  • Any personal reflections or notes you enter

3.3 Capture

  • Photos, screenshots, and images you capture or import
  • Voice recordings and transcriptions (processed entirely on-device)
  • Text notes and annotations
  • Export files created at your direction

3.4 Orate

  • Text content you provide for text-to-speech conversion
  • Audio episodes generated from your text (produced entirely on-device)
  • Playback history and episode metadata
  • All text-to-speech processing occurs on your device using Apple’s on-device speech synthesis. No text or audio is transmitted to sistnt or any third-party service.

3.5 Steward

  • Subscription and recurring expense records you create (names, amounts, billing cycles, categories)
  • Payment schedules and renewal dates you enter
  • Spending projections and forecasts generated from your data
  • Any notes or annotations you attach to subscription records
  • Export files created at your direction

Important: Steward does not connect to your bank accounts, credit cards, or any financial institution. All personal financial data in Steward is manually entered by you. We have no access to your actual financial accounts or transaction history.

Reference data: Steward periodically downloads foreign exchange rate data to support multi-currency cost conversion. This is general-purpose reference data that is not tied to your identity or your personal financial information. No personal data is transmitted to sistnt or any third party during this process.

Important: If you delete an app without exporting your data, that data is permanently lost. We have no backup copies because we never had access to your data in the first place.

4. Device Permissions

Our Apps may request device permissions to function. These permissions are used solely for local functionality and never to transmit data to sistnt or any third party.

4.1 Camera and Microphone (Capture)

Capture may request camera access to photograph documents, objects, or scenes, and microphone access to record voice notes. All captured media is stored locally on your device. Denying these permissions limits functionality but does not affect other features.

4.2 Location (Enumerator)

Enumerator may request location access when logging an event. Location data is stored only on your device and is never collected in the background. If you deny location permission, events are still logged with “Unknown” location.

4.3 Speech Synthesis (Orate)

Orate uses Apple’s on-device text-to-speech capabilities to convert text into audio. All speech synthesis processing occurs locally on your device. No text content is sent to external servers for processing.

4.4 iCloud (All Apps)

Where applicable, our Apps use Apple’s CloudKit to sync your data across your own devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud account, governed by Apple’s privacy policy. sistnt cannot access your iCloud data.

5. Analytics and Diagnostics

5.1 Apple Analytics

If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers through your device’s iOS Settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized diagnostic information such as crash reports and general usage statistics. This data is collected and anonymized by Apple before we receive it. For details, see Apple’s Privacy Policy at apple.com/privacy.

5.2 Firebase Analytics (4KWks — Being Deprecated)

4KWks currently includes anonymous telemetry via Google Firebase Analytics. :imited anonymized usage data is collected (app open events, feature usage counts). No names, emails, device identifiers, or IP addresses are stored. Firebase may assign a random session identifier that cannot identify you personally.

Deprecation notice: Firebase Analytics is being removed from 4KWks in an upcoming update. Once removed, the only analytics sistnt receives from any app will be Apple’s standard aggregated diagnostics.

5.3 No Third-Party Analytics in Other Apps

4KWks, Capture, Orate, and Steward do not include any third-party analytics frameworks. The only diagnostic data available to sistnt from these apps is what Apple provides through its standard developer analytics program, subject to your iOS-level opt-in.

6. Financial Data (Steward)

Steward allows you to track subscription costs and project future spending based on data you manually enter. We want to be clear about how this data is handled:

  • All financial data you enter into Steward is stored exclusively on your device and, where applicable, in your private iCloud account.
  • Steward does not connect to banks, credit card companies, payment processors, or any financial institution.
  • Steward does not access, read, or infer your actual financial transactions.
  • We never see, collect, or have access to any financial data you enter into Steward.
  • Spending projections and forecasts are generated entirely on your device from data you supply. These calculations are for personal reference only.

7. Data Export and Portability

Our Apps provide you with the ability to export your data in standard formats (JSON, CSV, PDF, or other open formats as applicable). Data export is manual and entirely under your control. Your data is yours — you can take it with you at any time.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, license, or share your data with any third party. Period.

The only circumstances under which data leaves your device are when you explicitly initiate an export, share via iOS sharing features, or when Apple’s standard iCloud sync operates on your behalf.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is protected:

  • All on-device data is encrypted by iOS using NSFileProtectionComplete.
  • iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
  • We do not introduce any third-party or proprietary encryption that could introduce additional vulnerabilities.
  • We do not maintain servers that store your personal data, eliminating the risk of server-side data breaches.
  • No sensitive data (including financial information entered into Steward) is logged to console output or transmitted externally.

10. Children’s Privacy

Our Apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since our Apps do not collect personal information from anyone, this concern is largely moot — but we state it here for completeness. If you believe a child has somehow submitted personal data to us, please contact us so we can investigate.

11. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

  • Export or delete your data at any time via any app.
  • Grant or revoke device permissions (camera, microphone, location) at any time through iOS Settings.
  • Opt in or out of Apple’s diagnostic sharing through iOS Settings.
  • Deleting the app will remove all of your local data from your device.

If you reside in a jurisdiction with privacy legislation (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA), you may have additional rights such as access, correction, or deletion of personal data. Since sistnt does not collect personal data, such requests generally do not apply. However, we will respond to any inquiry in good faith.

12. International Considerations

sistnt is based in Canada. Because we do not collect or transmit personal data, there are no cross-border data transfers to disclose. Any iCloud syncing is governed by Apple’s data handling practices and your own iCloud account settings.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices or applicable laws evolve. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via the app or our website. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our Apps after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
